How to Select Mesh for Sports Jerseys

A practical method for choosing sports mesh by openness, GSM, opacity, decoration route and panel placement rather than by appearance alone.

Start with panel function

Main-body fabric, side ventilation panels and reinforcement zones can require different balances of openness, opacity and stability. Define the panel before comparing mesh samples.

Balance airflow and coverage

A more open mesh can increase ventilation but may reduce opacity or change print appearance. Closed mesh or finer structures can provide a smoother decoration surface while retaining some airflow.

Sample the real decoration route

If the garment will be sublimated, printed, transferred or embroidered, test the intended process on the candidate fabric. Include shade, fastness, dimensional stability and any strength requirements in the approval brief.

Use this as sourcing guidance.

Final fabric suitability depends on the approved specification, processing route, garment construction and agreed test requirements.
